I love musicals and the feeling of catching one is as though I just finish shopping and bought something awesome for myself! Yes, that same kind of happiness. But the feeling of catching The Sound of Music is kinda different this time with lots of mixed feelings but in a GOOD way! Nervous, happy, touching and very very excited. Seeing my childhood movie comes to life and singing along to the catchy theme songs… I know I’ll have a great time! I couldn’t stop smiling that day for I am going to revive all my happy fond memories right before my very eyes! Every one sang so beautifully; the nuns’ voice so powerful and touching, the children voices were captivating. I enjoy every bit of the musical!
Dress code: My Favourite Things! Thus I brought with me my bag from Thai Designer, Asamascarf, filled with my favourite things; colours, prints and fun!
“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things” ~ My Favourite Things
“You are sixteen going on seventeen
Waiting for life to start
Somebody kind who touches your mind
Will suddenly touch your heart” ~ Sixteen going on seventeen
“Doe, a deer, a female deer…Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself…Far, a long, long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread…La, a note to follow Sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread…That will bring us back to Do (oh-oh-oh)”
~ Do Re Mi
The world’s best-loved musical, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, comes to the MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands in July, with a dazzling production from the home of West End musical theatre, the famous London Palladium.
This lavish and critically-acclaimed production tells the uplifting true story of Maria, the fun-loving governess who changes the lives of the widowed Captain Von Trapp and his seven children by re-introducing them to music, culminating in the familys escape across the mountains.
The original 1959 Broadway production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and was Rodgers and Hammersteins biggest success. The 1965 movie starring Julie Andrews as Maria won five Oscars, including Best Picture, and remains one of the most popular movies of all time.
THE SOUND OF MUSIC brims over with some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical theatre stage, including My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Climb Evry Mountain, Edelweiss, The Lonely Goatherd, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, and of course the glorious title song The Sound of Music.
This iconic show touches the hearts of all ages!
