With summer sweeping across Germany, painting the country in a harvest of colourful outdoor festivals, barbeques galore, thirst-quenching beers and tall iced-drinks, Brotzeit invites guests to soak up the season with its Summer Specials from Tuesday, 4 July to Sunday, 20 August.
Making its debut at Brotzeit is a lunchtime go-to – a DIY Salad S$18 of the season’s sweet summer harvest of leafy greens and colourful vegetables. As base, guests choose either baby spinach or mesclun greens, tossed up with julienned carrots, sliced cucumber, sweet corn, juicy cherry tomatoes and slivers of capsicum. Included in every portion are one Protein Option (grilled or breaded chicken, seared tuna, smoked salmon or Black Forest ham), one choice of a Superfood (avocado, blueberries, raspberries, mixed nuts or mandarin oranges), and of course one pick from Brotzeit’s range of Salad Dressings. Additional toppings, like bacon or an egg, are available at $2 each.
For some light bites, Brotzeit recommends the Spinach Mint Dip S$8 served with slices of carrots, capsicums, cucumbers and red radish (as seen in picture above).
Meatlovers can dive deep into grill season with the Brotzeit Barbeque Party Feast ($98, for 2 to 3 persons) that serves up hefty portions of grilled pork fillet, garlic pork sausages, bacon strips and chicken fillet, alongside a couple of minced beef and pork skewers. Adding weight to this burly feast are sides of grilled corn, a choice of fries or spicy potato wedges, a salad base and two toast-worthy 0.5L steins of draft beer. The Brotzeit Barbeque Platter, priced at $68, is also available a la carte.
All the meat are really delicious on its own but the top secret is the ketchup chilli sauce which is MAD ADDICTIVE! You can feel the spice but its not at all spicy and sweet. Just go try!!!
Not forgetting that Germany boasts some beautiful lakes, rivers and the North Sea, some of the juiciest fresh catches will feature on Brotzeit’s summer menu too. Plump, juicy mussels are served up in a trio of irresistible dishes – White Wine Infused Mussels S$19 for 250g, S$29 for 500g, flavoured with garlic, shallots, carrot, celeriac and leek; Fish and Mussels Saffron Stew S$32 in a rich vegetable and potato sauce, and the Mediterranean-style Marinated Mussels S$10, steamed and topped with fresh tomatoes, capsicums and onions.
Another seafood dish that’s perfect for sharing – a whole 1kg of freshly-caught grouper, seasoned and pan-seared to perfection, served with almond butter and parsley potatoes. This impeccable dish of Grouper Fish “Mullerin Art” with Almond Butter, is priced at S$58.
This season, Brotzeit also debuts a thirst-quenching long drink starring the French aperitif wine Lillet Blanc (a blend of white wine and citrus liqueurs). Stirred up with refreshing tonic water, a sprig of fresh mint and a medley of strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, this Lil’ Berry S$14 is one summer sensation that cannot be missed.
