Calling all foodies, you wouldn’t want to miss this delicious yet meaningful ingenuity celebrating SG50 with 50 restaurants along with 50 newly created dishes.
Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS) is launching Singapore Restaurant Month that will take place from 1 July to 10 August 2015. This inaugural festival is organised by RAS, with support from the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Union Pay, and will offer the public a unique opportunity to savour local produce – namely eggs, fish and vegetables – that will be featured in 50 newly-created dishes from 50 restaurant brands.
The list of participating restaurant brands spans traditional, modern, Asian and western concepts around the country; giving diners exciting options of original creations that best highlight the selected produce. Together, they look set to showcase the best of home-grown ingredients with a spark of creativity.
Among these 50 restaurant brands will be 12 heritage restaurants* that have graced the local culinary scene for decades. Notable names in this honour roll include Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant, Red Star Restaurant, Islamic Restaurant and Fatty Weng Restaurant.

Presenting Mexican Cafe Iguana’s colourful Pibil Pescado in Red Chile sauce at S$30++ which is inclusive of an SG50 margarita or Iguana lager. The sambal stingray lookalike is actually a locally grown seabass and the sauce is really addictive.

This modern European restaurant, Portico, work closely with local suppliers for fresh ingredients. My favourite dish of the night is Portico’s 3 Grain Laksa Risotto! Laska and thick mee-hoon… absolutely… but who would have knew laska tasted so delicious with 3 different grains; barley, quinoa and orzo pasta along with Pulau Ubin Seabass Fish Cake! I love it! For only S$50, you get to enjoy a 5 course SG50 menu.
Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant
201 Keppel Road

Established in 1977, Prima Tower is the only other revolving restaurant in Singapore, and was built to let diners enjoy the panoramic view of the sea. Prima Tower is also one of Singapore’s longest established restaurant and is one of the few restaurants in Singapore that offers authentic Beijing fare. Inspired by ‘Sai Pang Xie’ a popular dish that taste like crab but does not contain any crab meat, Hong Kong Master Chef Chan came up with Sauteed Bird’s Nest with Egg White S$70. The egg taste is overpowering and though delicious I can barely taste the bird’s nest.
Palm Beach Seafood Restaurant

We ended our food trail at One Fullerton with a delicious Fried Baby Barramundi which is going at S$18/500g from Palm Beach Seafood! It is super value for money and good for sharing 2-4 pax. Fresh and juicy fish meat with fried cuttlefish which I thought looked like yee-mee, are super addictive!
Singapore Restaurant Month is held in Singapore from 1 July to 10 August 2015 and is organized by Restaurant Association of Singapore. Which are the dishes you would like to try? I already have quite a few on my list and with 50 restaurants and 50 dishes to choose from, I am sure there is something for everyone.
