Every Instagram feed I scroll was filled with Paddy Hills’ food pictures! People are telling me how good the food is and that the hype is crazy with the long waiting queues. I was excited when Clara of explodingbelly invited me down for a tasting together. I didn’t even have to think twice and went YES YES I WANT GO!
We got there in the afternoon say 3pm thinking the crowd would be over but nope, there is still a queue, the café filled with delicious truffle smell and happy customers. I can’t wait!
After the long waiting time with the very humid hot weather, we asked if they have any recommendation for thirst quenching drinks. We were introduced to try the selections they have on the Quench menu.
I am in awe when I saw my drink! I have never seen anything like this but I swear I think someone had fun blowing bubbles into my Bubbly Yuzu S$8! This drink is really refreshing with yuzu, plum and chewy grape jello all in 1 cup!
Why the drinks all so photogenic one! Our friend likes her Taste like purple S$8 drink with the white grape and magic balls. I didn’t like it for it has a strange artificial taste to it. But I really like the Beer Slushie S$12 with all the popcorn and the dragon fruit and margarita drink. I think my Bubbly Yuzu is the best!
I never thought I’ll say this but it’s really tough to narrow to just 1 dish to order when you are at Paddy Hills! I’m so glad there were 3 of us to share more variety! THIS IS MY NUMBER 1 FAVOURITE and if I can only choose 2 dishes, I’ll probably order 2 of this! Ok, maybe the Hei Rice… wait… arghhh this is so tough.
Don’t be deceived by this plain looking covered by big piece of seaweed dish. This Ramen Risotto S$25 is da bomb! The generous slices of kurobuta cha su and that cute little raw quail egg yolk! I ain’t sharing this one next time!
Another favourite of mine which is nearly on par with Ramen Risotto would be this Hei Rice S$22. That’s interesting, putting an egg on top of the black rice, I thought. But why is it there and not say very attractive right. I thought oh this would be a normal squid ink rice so probably they try to make it interesting by making me break my own egg. BUT OH BOY WAS I WRONG. Hahahaa this dish has the wok hei taste coupled with garlicky flavour, drizzled with mentaiko mayo and don’t get me started on the fried chicken! The chicken is so tender and paired so well with everything else inside the bowl.
The Pink Rigatoni S$25 is probably my least favourite not because it’s not tasty but it isn’t as tasty as the rest that I had. But then again, I love the cheese, mentaiko, Brazilian sausage and lardo stuffed inside the rigatoni.
And I thought lobster roll are the only awesome roll around but wait till you meet PH Crab Roll S$28, ohh the generous swimmer crab filling with loads of roe. Yumsssss… served together with kimchi slaw, wasabi mayo and straight cut fries.
If you are expecting a piece of possibly Pink Cheesecake S$16, be prepared to be surprised. Like really surprise!!! We were staring at our foamy bowl for a good few seconds before looking at each other? HAHAHAA where’s the cheesecake I asked!
As we took a spoonful of it, we found all the goodness with the creamy cheese cake, butter crumbs, magic balls and pomegranate. It’s quite tasty but not what I will return for. It’s just different in looks but normal.
We were all thinking Chocolate Pasta S$16 wow, sounds unique and maybe we should try. I was still saying I love all things chocolate and even tried Chocolate with Stinky Tofu before, it was delicious! So I’m positive Chocolate Pasta is definitely something I’ll be able to love but NO! Chocolate and pasta, TAK MATCH! NO NO NO. I’m not sure if it’s because the texture or the taste combined but with just one mouth, it was so hard to chew through and swallow! Or is it because our brain and mouth doesn’t recognise the taste. I’m not sure but I definitely will not be ordering this.
As yummy as it looks is this MUST ORDER Berry Muffcake S$20! Crispy crust, buttery and the cube shaped ice creams! TOOOOO CUTE! Make sure you order this to share! It’s so beautiful it will put smiles on faces too!
