799 blogposts since 2012! Woah, I didn’t know I had that many blog posts published. I started blogging about my personal life, thoughts and I guess many of us started from a personal blog too? I’ve hidden some of the private posts because then when I started Modgam.com, it was mostly for my friends and family. So please get your facts right? #laughdieme #bloggersarealsohumanwithfeelingsplease
There are many misconceptions of bloggers and if you don’t know anything about bloggers/social media, please feel free to ask me and I believe many of us will be happy to share. A lot of people still have a lot of misconceptions about bloggers and many times even when I’m feeling helpless, there is only so much I can do. Some people think as long as you look pretty and can snap loads of selfies, you can be a blogger too. Others feel as long as you keep your readers happy with tons of giveaway and promo codes, you too can be a blogger.
Everyone has their own way of handling their blogs/brands. You too can join in the club. It is very easy to start a blog but try maintaining it. You will then see the hours we put, the effort we give and the lack of sleep to do what we do.
I am constantly learning/improving and I am really thankful for my family, friends, everyone I’ve worked with on Modgam and most of all my readers who kept me going. THANK YOU for believing in me!
Companies/brands give us promo code so that our readers/followers can benefit from some savings when they do shopping like we did. Not for us to keep our followers/readers around and bribe them. So you mean companies/brands used their marketing fund just to help me build my brand? Does it even make sense to you? #dontknowwanttocryorlaugh Oh even if that is the case, it is also because companies have their research on our blogs to justify the traffic and marketing fund spent. I am not trying to be arrogant here but why are there still many blogs around for years and over a decade? We must be doing something right isn’t it?
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but don’t go around maligning or assuming things that you are unsure of. If any of it is true, I’ll admit to it and even laugh together with you. But you said that my blog rely on giveaways and promo codes and though I know none of it is true, I can’t help want to kick you in the ass. Go under search in my blog and you can see I’ve only done 3 giveaways so far cos I feel grateful to my readers for sticking around. Promo codes only last for like a month to 2 or 3? Not all brands or companies want to have this kind of promotion either.
Yes I know every susie, bobo, lulu n tom you know is a blogger. People talk about influencers, bloggers all the time thinking we have it all easy and free. I never once call myself an influencer, I am merely a blogger who owns a blog cos I enjoy writing. Will I still continue writing when I no longer receive an invite? Yes, simply because I started out paying for all my meals too, paid for beauty services and travel all from my very own pocket. I will still continue to write for it’s my very own e-diary and I can “show-off” to my kids next time. You see Mama was popz a long time before too! I enjoy reading my past blogs from time to time cos I look back and laugh at my writings/feelings at that time, my ugly photography skills and how far I’ve come along.
Just because there are some black sheeps giving this name a bad reputation, it doesn’t mean everyone is the same. Sometimes if we are lucky, a brand pays us for a blog post, others exchanged it with a product. Eg. 10 readers went to buy the product say usd355. What do I get? Just a small sum of token or 1 of their product. Do we get paid for every single people who buys? Maybe for the very famous bloggers yes but not for me. Nope. We are “paid” because we used our effort to style, travel, time to write n learn the product before sharing it with our readers. I don’t speak for everyone but I only take what I can deliver and not everything/anything. So before you start judging every blogger, think again. People are always telling me maybe I should be a blogger too and I always say “You should! Because only then you’ll know… For every nasi lemak you eat, you’ll have to write too.” #nosuchthingasfreemeals #justsaying
Till date, I am very thankful every time I receive an invitation for tasting, event or to work and collaborate with certain brands. Sometimes I still have difficulty believing how lucky I am for working with some of the biggest brands, not that I don’t appreciate the rest of the other brands, I do very much and is very thankful. The many opportunities that were given to Modgam were incredible. #verygrateful
I have a full time job, am a wife, a daughter, a daughter-inlaw and a mother to my furkid, not forgetting my friends and godma duties. If you think being a blogger is easy, think again for we put in a lot of effort, commitment and time into what we do. Without passion, none of this would be possible.
Im only responsible for what I say not for what you understand.
