DON HO – Social Kitchen & Bar at Keong Saik!

August 16, 2017

Dating with Don Ho and I’m not talking about the man himself but the late Hawaiian musician who is also lauded as the ambassador or the aloha spirit. I am absolutely in love with the tropical themed interior and it made me feel as if I was dining in Hawaii or some beach resort. I adore the fun vibes setting with bright pink flamingo and golden pineapple ornaments making this place an idea spot for chilling out with friends over food/drinks.

It was so crowded that day this is the only shot I manage to take but you get the drift. Too gorgeous not to share!

With 2 tropical-look-alike smoothies and that gorgeous backdrop, I really feel as though I’m being transported to another country. Which is also why I think I can hide inside Don Ho whole day all day everyday! With me here are the Flamingo Paradise S$12 (left); strawberry, mango, banana, chia see, fresh milk and coconut milk which I really like, not too sweet yet tasty and Winter is Coming S$12 (right); apricot, almond, ginger, kale, cinnamon and apple juice.

I would recommend this Potato Rosti S$22 which is not only crispy but savoury as well! The Jjamon Iberico ham adds a little salty-ness to the rosti and with the poach egg drizzled with tomato salsa, you are in for a mouthful of flavours!

Another MUST HAVE comforting brunch dish to order would be the Slow Cooked Egg S$18 with soft toasted brioche bread, generous wild mushroom servings with red wine sauce. Just by looking at this picture got me all hungry again!

I have to say the Quinoa Porridge S$16 smells really good and tasted sweet but it really isn’t to my liking. For brunch, I would love my scrambled or poached eggs, sausages, toast bread and not a bowl of porridge. I prefer something filling and more substantial. But if you are into Quinoa, you may want to give it a try and let me know what you think of it?

I was recommend to give this a try for this dish is popular among customers but my verdict? Not a fan. Pimientos De Pardon S$14 is a type of pepper somewhat capsicum like and it wasn’t spicy. Just not my kind of food.

THIS…. THIS I LOVE! Adding a happy ending to my brunch is this delicious Self Saucing Chocolate Pudding S$10 topped with vanilla bean ice cream and hazelnut praline bits.
