With Chinese New Year around the corner, you must be wondering where are the best deals in town that can fill your tummy without putting a hole in your pocket.
You will be pleased to know that Bakerzin is presenting its first Chinese New Year Set Menu which will be available at all its outlets islandwide (except Terminal One) from 5th February to 5th March 2015. Customers can pick from two appetisers and two main courses to create a two-course CNY Set Meal for only $18.80++ and it comes with a complimentary iced lemon tea.
What appetisers and main courses are available? Let us introduce to you the dishes in their CNY set menu.
Prosperous Prawn: Pan-seared tiger prawns with kumquat marmalade glaze, carrot and green papaya pickle, drizzled with stout reduction.
Who doesn’t love prawns, especially tiger prawns? If you think prawns are just prawns and can’t be very different, you are in for a surprise. The sauces and the pickles that come with the prawns give it a very special taste that you will feel that you have been hit by multiple different flavors all at once. We went ‘wowwwww’ as we chewed on the prawns. This dish is my recommended pick.
Opulent Salmon: Smoked salmon rosette with dill cream, carrot and green papaya pickle on homemade bread, served with mesclun salad.
A light and refreshing appetiser, this salmon dish is the best option for salmon and salad lovers. Notice how carrot and green papaya pickles are also available in this dish? Yes, they certainly add flavor to the dish.
Fortune Yam: Yam and purple yam abacus with minced pork, sliced shiitake mushrooms, lotus root, dried shrimp and chilli padi.
Yes, this is a spicy dish, so I had my reservations. It looked good though so I tried one. The spiciness was overpowering considering I don’t take spicy food but after finishing one piece it actually felt quite shiok. I went for a second piece and then another and another. After you got used to the taste, it was pretty tasty with the mushrooms and the pork. Rather yummy indeed.
Treasure Chicken: Oven-roasted chicken roulade stuffed with glutinous rice with dried shrimp, dried scallop, diced mushrooms, macadamia nuts, served with sauté baby eggplant, zucchini, butternut pumpkin and marmite sauce.
I started with the veggies and I really liked them, so I thought until I tried the chicken roulade. It was so fragrant, so pang that I was certain that even my grandparents would have enjoyed this dish even though it looked western. Accompanied with the veggies, it is one dish that you must certainly try.
So when it comes to CNY, what do we look forward to enjoying? CNY cookies of course!
