I was approached a few times before in the past but never have I imagine that I will one day give fillers and botox a try. I was offered plastic surgery in Korea but I really dare not give it a try. No judgement to anyone who has did it, infact I wished I had that kind of courage in me. For now, I am super contented with Aesthetics. It’s already a huge step for me. Ladies and gentlemen, Boys and Girl, I am no longer virgin to aesthetics thanks to Dr Benjamin Yim Clinic Aesthetics & Laser Centre! #superproudofmyself
Why did I finally decided to give it a shot? How was the whole experience like? Was it painful? Are you still able to rub your nose or squeeze it? Look fake a not? Any side effects? Your husband is ok with it? I will cover everything you need to know right here on this blog post based on my personal experience.
Just like every other lady, I love taking pictures and if you are a follower of my Instagram, you will realise I hardly take selfies. I love taking pictures with friends, loved ones but if I were to pose on my own, it gets superbly awkward! Every solo picture looks odd to me and I can go on and on as to why I would like to finally give this a go. One of it being, I had that sudden rush of vain-ness to look good on my thirty… 6 birthday and that this will be a good birthday present for myself. Now everytime I look at the “new” me, I couldn’t stop giggling and snapped selfies! Hehehee more about my feelings later.
In the past, I cannot comprehend when friends who did fillers/botoxs told me things like instant confidence boost and that they feel so much better and every angle of selfie looks great. I can finally share my honest thoughts with you now and how true this is. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to Dr Benjamin Yim who is highly experienced and a key pioneer in the aesthetics industry with highly valued opinions. Dr Benjamin is also a popular speaker at many aesthetic conferences around Asia and an Honorary Secretary of the Society of Aesthetic Medicine, Singapore.
Another WHY factor that got me going for this little “improvisation” when I went over for a facial pampering at his clinic is because I felt very comfortable talking to Dr Benjamin. He doesn’t prep talk nor paint me beautiful stories but was really professional and answered all my questions and calmed my fears. This is WHY you should always go to a professional doctor whom you feel comfortable with. “The best part of my job is making people happy and beautiful,” added Dr Benjamin. After hearing him, I told myself, if I ever want to get aesthetics procedures done for the first time, this is going to be my doctor!
I decided to fix an appointment with Dr Benjamin Yim and went for my first aesthetics consultation. Did you know that Botox can help reduce the size of your masseter muscle and sharpen the face? I always thought Botox is done to reduce all the irritating hard-to-vanish face lines so as to make the skin looks younger. Now I am more intrigued to learn more and hear what else it can do. Dr Benjamin suggested adding volume to the bridge of my nose (fillers), skin fillers and botox. As there are skin fillers needed to be done to my cheeks area, Dr Benjamin took an extra step to ask me more about my cheeks sensitivity and understand its condition. He is also the first doctor who asked me about my reddish cheeks and if it caused discomfort, itchyness or pain! So attentive and details oriented!
After taking pictures of my side and front view so that I can see and compare the after and before pictures, I was then ushered into a treatment room where the nurses helped cleanse my face and applied numbing cream. Dr Ben came in to check on me, made a few jokes and calmed me down. He marked my face with a chalk pencil and showed me again where the procedures are to be done.
- Juvederm voluma to the bridge of the nose.
- Skin filler to lengthen chin.
- Botox to the chin to lengthen chin
- Skin filler to the front the cheeks to reduce the sunkeness under the eyes.
- Botox to the sides of the face to reduce the size of the masseter muscle and sharpen the face.
When Dr Benjamin told me about all the procedures, I really couldn’t quite visualised till after the treatment. I am so happy with my “new nose”!! I cannot stop staring at it and with the skin filler injected to the front of the cheeks to reduce the sunkeness under the eyes; I look fresher and more awake! As my chin muscle are very strong, fillers and botox are injected to lengthen the chin making my face sharper. Botox to the sides of the face to reduce the size of the masseter muscle and sharpen the face is the most intriguing to me for Dr Benjamin told me as the results will be more obvious after 2 weeks, 1 month and as time pass by. I was a little doubtful but my pictures proved me wrong and I have many people telling me I’ve lost weight!!!! I even joked and asked Dr Benjamin to inject that to my thunderous thighs and huge tummy! Lol
Instant Confidence? Really?
With the “new” me in Thailand celebrating my birthday! I can ensure you its not just the holiday glow or my favourite mango but also the enhancements Dr Benjamin customised just for for me. The only thing I had to edit in this picture is the irritating pimple at the center of my chin! LOL I had so much confidence in doing selfies and shoots that I was like a new me. I am still a little akward in posing for the camera but I can see the huge difference. I asked for a picture everytime I see a beautiful backdrop that the husband started getting confused too. I was wearing more contact lens and not hiding behind my glasses. I started to love myself more and have a bit more confidence than I used to. Now I have a new motivation to push myself to lose more weight! It made me feel better about myself.
Does your nose look fake with the fillers?
My nose look so natural some people noticed while others didn’t know until they saw my instagram post! Everyone was full of praises for it! Even my mister is tempted to go to Dr Benjamin. #ikidyounot The husband is a lot vainer than I am. I had readers asking if they can choose how much higher they want for their nose bridge, I believe it would be best to ask Dr Benjamin cos he can do a better explaination than me. I love my new nose so much, I am giggling as I type this! My mister is very good at picking out nose fillers and people who have had their noses done (DON’T ASK ME WHY) but even he is in love with my new nose.
Is the procedure painful?
Everyone has different pain threshold and people judged me everytime I say I’m very afraid of pain and needles when they see my tattoos! #whylikethat I kept my eyes closed the entire time and when Dr Benjamin cracked jokes with me, I was going crazy in my mind wondering if I can answer him or if I do the needles might slip elsewhere instead and what not! BUT Dr Benjamin was so assuring the whole procedure was relaxing and very very comfortable with slight discomfort. The pain or should I say the tinge of pain comes at different stage and is completely acceptable. I believe I was in more shocked that I was finally doing the procedure than in pain. The only part where I felt more painful say 4/10 was the botox injected to the sides of my face as Dr Benjamin needed to jab 3 times on each side and asserted a bit more force. My fear 8/10 vs the overall pain 4/10.
Are you still able to rub your nose or squeeze it?
Yes, you can still wash your nose and clean it after having fillers! As long as you are gentle in your actions for the first 2 weeks. Dr Benjamin doesn’t encourage squeezing of blackheads even if you didn’t had fillers done. If you accidentally squeeze or blow your nose, it wouldn’t go out of shape! Just like most of you, I had the same question before and wondered if I can still dig into my nose and clean it. If you are still worried, I am sure your doctor will be happy to help you with your queries.
Any side effects?
Dr Benjamin asked and checked if I have any drug allergies before proceeding with the Aesthetics procedures. You should always check with your doctor beforehand. There are no side effects except for a little jaw ache when I chew and bite. Aching level is probably 0.3/5 and completely bearable.
How long can fillers and botox last?
Dr Benjamin shared with me that fillers last about 1 year while Botox last about 4 months. As to why Botox only last for this short period of time because it is a protein that that is used medically to treat certain muscular conditions and cosmetically remove wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing muscles. However, If you have repeat Botox treatments, the effect tends to last longer.
How much are the charges?
Depending on individual’s requirements and areas that you want to enhance, Botox treatments ranges from $400 and above while Fillers treatments ranges from $1000 and above.
Is your husband ok with you going doing asethetics?
The mister is more than ok with me having asethetics procedures. Infact he is so in love with my new nose and sharper face, he is telling me he needs to go to Dr Benjamin! Hahahaa he is a lot vainer than I am and is happy I had the courage to try! I am thankful he is so very supportive.
Ending the post with my sharper face and higher nose bridge! I cannot stop thanking Dr Benjamin and his staff for taking such good care of me. Me ish very much in love and so very happy with the “new” me!
