I had my reservations too when I first heard the word, Hostel. Having being pampered and staying in hotels most of the time when I’m traveling, I must say I am rather curious too. I was having a lot of what ifs and wonder about having to share toilet, privacy, safety etc etc… for accommodations play a big part in traveling. You might be saying that we don’t spend a lot of time in our hotel/hostel room but you have to agree that hospitality, cleanliness and safety would be another factor yes?
Even though we only spend a few hours in the hotel during the night, I am still very particular when it comes to hospitality, cleanliness and safety. I would really appreciate a tidy room, clean bathroom and that I can safely store my stuffs in the room, and have a safe night sleep without worrying someone breaking into my room.
A big part of me was curious and I said YES when Bunc@Radius – Little India invited me and my friends over for a staycation! With the spacious and pretty Deck area equipped with BBQ pits, I was thinking it would be perfect for us to celebrate Vin’s birthday!
Stepping into Bunc@Radius, I was really impressed! The whole concept is rather quirky, raw yet fun! I am loving so many of their decorations! I kept using the word thoughtful when it comes to Bunc@Radius and you will soon see why too. Oh ya, did I mention that wifi is free here?
Cleverly decorated walls filled with lots of information or even discounts provided by affiliated partners for dining and and more. Thoughtful of them isn’t it? Decorations of jars filled with local childhood toys transform the simple décor into meaningful arty decorations. Have you spotted your childhood toy; five stones, Chinese plane chess??
The spacious eating area also known as The Long Table where you can mingle while eating and meet some new friends! Everything is so nicely arranged and labelled, even for the trash area so that everyone can help keep the area clean for all to use. What you might not know is that breakfast is FREE and you can have it daily from 6.30am to 10.30am! Shall show you what I had for breakfast as you read along.
Knowing that I am here with 5 other friends to celebrate Vin’s birthday, the very thoughtful Laura (Sales & Marketing Exec), prepared balloons inside our 6 bedded bunk room! We had such a pleasant surprise upon seeing the colourful balloons. Thank you so much Laura, it’s really sweet of you! I have chosen my bed and this is where I’ll sleep tonight! =]
Each bunk bed consist of a 7 inch mattress and two fluffy pillows which are sealed with bug resistant hygiene covers! You can also choose from two types of beds; a single bed or having bigger bed space in the double bed. Each bed is equipped with its own power point, adjustable reading light/night light so that each guest will not be interrupted by late check-ins. How very thoughtful! This explains why I don’t wana leave my bed!
Bunc@Radius has also invested in Fresh Air Ventilation System to eliminate pungent-smelling and stuffy rooms. This system intakes fresh air from outside the building, runs it through a cooling system and pumps in cool air into every room, forcing the stale air in the room through an exhaust. This help keeps the air fresh and is also environmentally-friendly.
Just when you are wondering, where to dump your trash since there are no bins inside the room. The thoughtful Bunc@Radius place baskets outside each room where you can dump your trash and they will clear it for you.
Communal toilet doesn’t sound too friendly to me and I do have my concerns but my worries are completely unfounded. Upon checking in, we will each be issued with specific cards separating the ladies and men. This is because each cards are also keys to the toilet/bathroom based on gender. The card issued to the ladies are not accessible to the men’s toilet and vice versa.
The communal toilet is soooo clean and spacious! There is also a huge makeup table with hair dryer. Put on your beauty regime and some makeup and you are ready to go!
The Deck is the perfect venue for celebrating birthdays or gatherings for special occasions. The kitchenette has everything you need and it is so convenient for the BBQ pit is just right outside.
Located at the other end of The Deck is the Fun Room where you can surf the net, catch up over movies or simply chill at one of the cushy sofas.
We ordered so many delicious BBQ food for Vin’s birthday celebration. BBQ beef steak, satay, sambal stingray, otah, chicken wings, mee hoon and many more. HAPPY BIRTHDAY VIN! After all the eating, we took a nice cold shower and headed back to our lovely bunk for round 2!
I bought these masks while holidaying in BKK and boy am I glad I lugged them back for we had so much fun posing and snapping pictures. Everyone was laughing so hard and time flies by real fast especially when you are having loads of fun. It was around 1am and we were all kinda hungry. There are many eateries and convenient stores within walking distance and Brandon suggested going to the famous Swee Choon Dim Sum which is about 5mins walk from Bunc@Radius.
We went back to Bunc@Radius feeling happy and wanted to chat the night away, but the fluffy pillows and comfortable bed were too tempting! No persuasion needed and our voices faded as we drifted into dreamland.
Free breakfast daily with toast, variety of jams, cornflakes, tea and coffee! The long table by the lobby is a great way to meet new people, maybe plan a day together or even share itinerary over free breakfast!
My friends and I had so much fun at Bunc@Radius we are even planning on coming back again for another staycation! We experience hospitality like no other and we are truly impressed, that a budget hostel can be this luxurious and fun without compromising comfort, cleanliness, safety and privacy! Thank you for hosting us again Bunc@Radius, we look forward to seeing you again.
